Who uses dispatch software day to day?

Dispatchers use the board to assign and sequence work. Owners use the KPIs and the Day Board to see how the day is going. Technicians receive their stops in the field workspace. Everyone works from the same live record of each job.

What is field service dispatch software?

Dispatch software is the tool the office uses to decide who goes where, in what order, and to keep that plan current as the day changes. For a residential contractor, the day always changes: a job runs long, a customer cancels, an emergency comes in at ten in the morning. A whiteboard or shared calendar cannot show drive time, technician skills, and the status of every job at once.

JobOpsPro's dispatch board puts all of that on one screen. Unassigned work sits on one side, each technician has a column, and the map shows the drive legs between stops. Because the board is connected to call intake, estimates, invoicing, and memberships, assigning a job is not a separate step from the rest of the business.

  • Live dispatch board with unassigned work and technician columns
  • Route optimization by drive time, appointment window, or urgency
  • Routes anchored to your shop location, with mileage for each leg
  • Dispatch KPIs and route cards for the day
  • A wall-TV day board for the shop

How does route optimization work in JobOpsPro?

Each company sets a home shop location. Routes start from the shop, so the first leg of the day counts, and stops are sequenced by drive time, appointment window, or urgency. The map shows the shop marker, every stop, and the legs between them, with mileage, so the dispatcher can see the day before committing to it.

When an emergency comes in, the dispatcher drops it onto the technician who makes the most sense and re-optimizes the rest of that route instead of rebuilding the day by hand.

What do technicians see after a job is dispatched?

Technicians use the field workspace on a phone or tablet. They see their assigned stops with the customer, address, and job details, the history of the equipment at that address, and tools to capture photos, consume parts from the truck, and clock in and out.

As job status changes, the office sees it on the board, and customers can receive request-received, appointment-confirmed, technician-en-route, and job-complete emails, with a preference center so they control what they get.

Can the whole shop see the day's work at once?

Yes. The Day Board is a view built for a wall-mounted TV. It shows today's completion, late or overrunning jobs, revenue, crew swimlanes, urgent items, jobs ready to invoice, and money owed, and it keeps the screen awake. Owners and dispatchers can glance at it instead of asking for status updates.

The Jobs screen adds Kanban, grouped, and list views with technician filters and Today, Week, Month, and Quarter date filters. Clicking a job opens a detail popup without leaving the board.

How does dispatch connect to intake, estimates, and invoicing?

Calls taken in intake become service calls, estimate visits, or project inquiries and land on the board. Approved estimates can create jobs directly. Completed jobs flow into invoices with payment links, and finalized invoices and payments sync with QuickBooks Online. Every job has a status timeline, so anyone can see how it moved from booked to paid.
